From Cheshire with Love

Vital Aid for Syria. My name is Rebecca Hicks and I am a full time mum living in Alsager. Together with the help of local town councillor, Jane Smith, we are organizing a donation drive to collect vital aid for Syrian Refugees. The event will take place on Saturday 8th April from 10:00 – 14:00 at our Gazebo outside the 'Alsager council offices' next to the Civic Centre. We are inviting people to drop off unwanted items at our gazebo on the grass outside the offices solely on Saturday 8th April from 10:00 until 14:00. Please do not attempt to take donated items to the council offices or to the Civic Centre, especially before our planned event. We have permission to set up our gazebo on the grass outside the offices solely on Saturday 8th April from 10:00 until 14:00. This event is nothing to do with the Civic or the council offices & as such they will not accept any items left on their premises. Obviously we would hate for any donations of aid to go to waste so please keep hold of your items until next Saturday. Thank you to everyone for the support so far & we can't wait to see you all on the big day! We need things  such as blankets, sleeping bags, clothing and medicines, which will then be placed in storage until our transportation to the ports is arranged. Alongside this we are also inviting everyone, particularly youngsters, to donate a teddy for the Syrian children in the hope that we can provide some small comfort to them in this horrific crisis. We will be providing ribbon and tags so that people can attach a message of hope and support to their teddy. Whilst we appreciate that this is not classed as essential aid, we feel that such a humanitarian act could make a huge difference in the life of a displaced Syrian orphan. If you would spread the word that would be a fantastic help. We have a Facebook group called ‘Syrian Donation Drive – Alsager’ that you go to for more information & from there can access the official public event entitled ‘From Cheshire With Love’. If you yourselves have any queries, then please do not hesitate to contact me. I have listed below what is classed as essential aid and also my contact details. **** ESSENTIAL AID ****Blankets, Sleeping bags, Warm clothing Inc. socks - in ALL ages & sizes. Thermal underwear, Hats, scarves, gloves, Sturdy shoes (no holes), Medicine, Toiletries, Baby essentials - nappies etc. Relevant food - things with long life that would be easy to ship e.g. nuts.
