Room Hire/Concert bookings

The practice through which we share our resources at St. Mary's was initiated in 2011 as the Open Door Project. It is not only an expression of our faith, but also of our commitment to partnership in charitable work and community enrichment.

Rick Wakeman launched our venture with an inaugural concert in 2012, and returned for an encore in January 2018. In addition to local choirs and orchestras, we have hosted performances by Julian Lloyd-Weber and Jonathan Vera. Afternoon recitals and concerts are also a feature during the summer. During the autumn Alsager Community Theatre perform their end of year production in the main body of the church.

Two meeting rooms, along with the body of the church, provide an excellent venue for concerts and larger gatherings. All are served by a kitchen and toilets.

We host U3A classes, art, language and support groups in the meeting rooms and the church has proved itself to be an excellent venue for a variety of performances and exhibitions.

Costs: Open Door offers our facilities at cost price - that is, to cover cleaning, administration, heating, lighting and water, and wear and tear. For use of the West Room or McDonald Room the charge is £8 per hour, with 15 minutes allowed at each end for setting up and clearing. The use of the church is charged at £35 per hour, (£45 per hour if the rooms are also needed), with an allowance of one hour at each end for setting up and pulling down. There is no additional charge for the use of the sound system but use of the piano is charged at £15. The rates above all include the use of the kitchen and toilets.

There is no charge for use by schools and there is a reduced summer rate for pupils' concerts of £15 per hour and £15 for use of the piano.

The West Room - ideal for smaller groups.

The McDonald Room - used for larger groups and classes.

Parking: - St. Mary's has limited parking spaces. We encourage the leaving of spaces at the front of the church for those in need of disabled parking. There is space for approximately 10/12 vehicles at the rear of the church, from The Avenue.

There is ample parking on the Fairview Car Park (accessed from Sandbach Road North or Asda access Road) in the centre of the town which is just two minutes walk from St. Mary Magdalene.
